 <\/span><\/span><\/o:p>près un début de championnat laborieux, l’attaque forgeronne retrouve son efficacité et les joueurs de BRAUN alignent une série de 7 matchs sans défaite qui leur permet d’effectuer une remontée spectaculaire. En pratiquant un football offensif (60 buts en 24 matchs) où s’illustre particulièrement l’inter MAGISTRI, ils termineront à la seconde place du groupe Est, à égalité de points avec Blanzy-Montceau, et à 2 points du leader Nancy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Le 24 janvier 1960, à Marseille, en 32ème<\/sup> finale de la coupe, les gueugnonnais vont donner du fil à retordre à une équipe niçoise qui s’apprête à rencontrer le grand Réal Madrid en Coupe d’Europe. Bien que battu 5-3, le FCG fait honneur aux couleurs.<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Mais à l’issue de cette rencontre, l’entraîneur annonce qu’il ne renouvellera pas son contrat. Les dirigeants locaux lui rendront hommage pour avoir redonné un moral à l’équipe et les moyens d’être à nouveau compétitif. <\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

? A l’issue de cette saison et après vingt années passées sous la bannière du club, Robert VAN DEN ABEELE, « le bine » pour les supporters raccroche les crampons.<\/span><\/p>\n

? En Mars, 2 buts de VINCENT et WROBEL permettent au FCG de s’imposer aux Alouettes dans le derby le plus explosif de l’histoire entre métallos et mineurs.<\/span><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n
